From the early 1700's, when Mr George Lumley together with his wife and, latterly, Mr John Gudgeon made and sold beautifully crafted clocks and watches to the great and good of Suffolk; through the 19th century, when Mr John Vale and his partner, Mr Richardson expanded the business to include fine diamonds and jewellery; and, more recently, through the first half of the 20th century, when Mr Edward Thurlow Champness and his family took the helm, the business has thrived on its ability to serve the needs of its clients and delight them with items of great beauty and craftmanship.
